South Africa launches ETA system for travelers from China, India, Indonesia, Mexico_我的网站

A | (ECNS) -- South Africa recently launched its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system on Wednesday, allowing travelers from China, India, Indonesia and Mexico to apply online for entry authorization. President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the launch ceremony at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, where he announced that the system was officially operational. Under the new system, eligible travelers can apply online from anywhere in the world without having to visit a South African embassy, consulate or visa center. Approved applicants are expected to receive their electronic authorization within 24 hours. The system began a pilot program for travelers from the four countries in September 2025. A South African official said around 216,000 applications have been processed so far, with 6,126 suspected fraudulent applications rejected. The ETA system is currently available at international airports in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. The South African government plans to extend the system to land and sea ports and gradually expand it to more countries and visa categories.
